It’s been just over a century since the suffragettes claimed their rights. The #MeToo movement is still experiencing aftershocks. Sisters of Europe is an editorial project that empowers and connects women across Europe.
Our platform contains a series of interviews with 22 inspiring women in 22 different countries.
Our 22 sheroes are famous and unknown, young and old, activists and astronauts, miners and politicians, but they all share a common goal: change. We want to shed light on new voices, new faces and new visions to document where women stand in today’s Europe.
We’ve reported from countries like Kosovo, Russia or England because we strongly believe that Europe is not only shaped by its member states, but by its neighbours as well. The portraits were written and photographed by a new generation of talented European journalists working across borders, from Paris all the way to Kiev.
European feminism has its own geography. While domestic violence is an urgent topic for women in southern countries, closing the gender pay gap is a priority in the West.
This is why we are organising public “agoras” in different cities spread across the continent. In 2019, we were in Warsaw, Paris, Berlin and Athens. In 2020, we’ll be heading to Rome and Brussels. During these discussions, a spectrum of issues European women are grappling with – region by region – will be tackled.
A list of concrete recommendations to improve women’s rights in Europe should be collected and presented to the European institutions. You can also be a part of Sisters of Europe and submit your ideas for change using the online form ‘Raise your voice’.
RAISE YOUR VOICE

Season #2 is produced by Prune Antoine, supported by the European Cultural Foundation as part of its Democracy Needs Imagination programme.
